PROJECT OVERVIEW: CMP were contracted to install 8nr +2m dia tubular steel mooring piles and 2nr +2m dia tubular steel dolphin piles to support Liverpool Cruise Liner berthing structure.


WORKS DESCRIPTION:

  • Dismantle and dispose of old timber mooring structure
  • Exploratory boreholes taken at pile positions using jack-up barge to establish ground conditions
  • Jack-up barge with drilling rig towed into pile position
  • 2.4m temporary pile casing lifted into position using crane barge and vibratory driven to refusal
  • 2.3m rock socket drilled through temporary pile casing (deepest socket approx. 11m)   
  • 40m+ tubular steel pile weighing 90-100 tonnes lifted into rock-socket and secured
  • Grout poured between temporary pile casing and permanent pile
  • Temporary pile casing removed over pile head
