PROJECT: Liverpool Cruise Liner Berth LOCATION: Liverpool CLIENT: Balfour Beatty VALUE: £1,750,000 PROJECT OVERVIEW: CMP were contracted to install 8nr +2m dia tubular steel mooring piles and 2nr +2m dia tubular steel dolphin piles to support Liverpool Cruise Liner berthing structure.
WORKS DESCRIPTION:
Dismantle and dispose of old timber mooring structure
Exploratory boreholes taken at pile positions using jack-up barge to establish ground conditions
Jack-up barge with drilling rig towed into pile position
2.4m temporary pile casing lifted into position using crane barge and vibratory driven to refusal
2.3m rock socket drilled through temporary pile casing (deepest socket approx. 11m)
40m+ tubular steel pile weighing 90-100 tonnes lifted into rock-socket and secured
Grout poured between temporary pile casing and permanent pile
Temporary pile casing removed over pile head
