PROJECT: Her Majesty's Naval Base Portsmouth LOCATION: Portsmouth, Hampshire CLIENT: Bovis Engineering, Birse Construction & Tilbury Construction VALUE: £2,000,000 PROJECT OVERVIEW: Taking place over four phases spanning sixteen years, CMP were contracted by a number of contractors to undertake numerous penstock works in the maximum-security naval base in Portsmouth. The works required CMP operatives to participate in extensive confined-space training programmes and involved fitting some of the largest penstocks in the UK.
WORKS DESCRIPTION:
Design and installation of isolation dams
Removal of damaged and corroded penstocks
Installation of replacement penstocks including fabrication of customised shuttering
Wellhead modifications
Refurbishment of existing gates including the removal and replacement of gate seals
