PROJECT: Southend Pier Refurbishment

PROJECT OVERVIEW: CMP were contracted to completely dismantle and refurbish the fire damaged pier head on the end of the 1.3 mile long historic Southend Pier.

WORKS DESCRIPTION:

• Remove and dispose of fire-damaged timberwork
• Construct preformed timber modules and install to existing structure
• Lengthen damaged piles using splice plates
• Replace diagonal braces and decking supports
• All works were undertaken on the damaged pier head 1.3 miles from the shore over a 12 month period, meaning the team had to contend with temperatures as low as -11C and winds of up to 70mph
• The value of this project excludes the price of materials (supplied by Breheny)
