PROJECT: Weston Super-Mare Pier Refurbishment

PROJECT OVERVIEW: CMP were contracted to completely dismantle and refurbish the fire damaged pier head on the end of the 1.3 mile long historic Southend Pier.

WORKS DESCRIPTION:

• 30m long piles were driven 20m into the sea-bed, of which 5m penetrated into mudstone
• Piles driven using a Cx110 hammer and 120t crane working on a 1500t barge
• Static load tests carried out on piles to prove 4500Kn dead-load
• 12 anchor piles constructed into the rock to allow piles to resist 500Kn uplift for the foundation of the new tower
